bullet  General Notes:

~George Ormerod's The History of County Palatine and City of Chester, Vol III, p. 710, has a pedigree chart for the Birthles of Birtles. The family begins with John de Birtheles, als. de Asthull. John's son Henry de Birthelis, als. Byrchel, als. Birchelis, living circa 1250 and occuring I Edw. I and 1276, is a very possible father for Christian. His wife was also named Cristian. Ormerod says that this Christian was likely Henry's second wife and not mother of the issue listed. She sued for dower in 17 Edw. I. Christian Birtles is not listed on the pedigree, yet given the date and name, I am guessing that Cristian who married Roger Mainwarning is the daughter of Henry and Cristian. Of course, Henry's wife could be the same Cristian Birtles, except that Roger's wife married twice after Roger twice after Roger, and it is possible that she married four times. 713
