Francisco de Madrid III appears to have been an older brother of Roque and Juan. Francisco escaped in 1680 with his wife and four small children, and in the following year was described as a captain forty-two years old, a native of New Mexico, married, of medium height, swarthy and gray-haired. He seems to have died by 1705, when a Juan de Avalos testified that he (Francisco) was the father of two now adult illegitimates, and that he had heard this from both Francisco and Roque de Madrid; Roque wrote back indignantly denying the charge.

Francisco married Isabel López Olguín, daughter of Cristóbal López Olguín and Melchora de Carvajal. (Isabel López Olguín was born about 1647 in Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España and died about 1697 in Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.)
