Manuel Armijo was governor of New México between 1827-1929, and 1838-1848. He was the Alcalde Mayor of Alburquerque. Manuel Armijo gave his parents in 1819 as Don Vicente Armijo, deceased, and Doña María Soledad Chávez, when he asked to marry Trinidad Gabaldón, daughter of José Miguel Gabaldón and María Dolores Ortiz.

They raised a girl named Ramona, mentioned in his last will as "my universal heir and daughter, Ramona Armijo." In this will his wife, Trinidad Gabaldón, is mentioned as deceased. Minor bequests are made to Beatriz, a little girl reared by his wife; to three Armijo girls, Cleofas, Albina, and Clara; to Teresa; to Justo Sandoval; and to José Antonio Armijo.

"Manuel Armijo was the last governor of New Mexico under the Mexican Republic, serving in that office three times. He was born in the Albuquerque area, probably in Belen, in 1793, the son of Vicente Ferrer Armijo and María Bárbara Chávez. The Armijos in 1790 were living in the Plaza de San Antonio de Belen, and Vicente was a stockman and lieutenant in the militia."
