Francisco Romero de Pedraza was mentioned (without "de Pedraza") as the assistant Alcalde of Santo Domingo in 1664; he was thirty-two years old and single. He escaped in 1680 with his wife and four children, and was described the following year as forty-six or forty-seven years of age, married, a native of New Mexico, and ill at this time with the "frios" He was slender, with a turned-up nose, and somewhat deaf. Francisco Romero de Pedraza gave his age as forty-eight at Guadalupe del Paso in 1683, and as fifty-nine in Santa Fe at the time of the Reconquest. He was Alcalde of Santa Fe the following year when he said that he was sixty; in 1699 his age was given as sixty-five. He belonged to the Confraternity of La Conquistadora. In 1698, Graciana, an eighteen-year-old daughter of his, and of his wife Francisca Ramírez de Salazar, married Cristóbal de Arellano.

Francisco Romero de Pedraza was a brother of Bartolomé. In 1689 he gave his age as 55, saying he was a son of Matías Romero and Isabel de Pedraza and married to Francisca Ramírez [de Salazar], a native of New Mexico. In previous and subsequent years he gave his age so consistently that we can say with some certainty that he was born in 1634-1635. He was an uncle of Lucía Gómez Robledo, daughter of Andrés Gómez Robledo (DM, 1697, no. 11).
