Charles Cawley's Medieval Lands Ermengard was the daughter of Enguerrand comté de Hesbaye. "Thegan's Vita Hludowici Imperatoris names the wife of Emperor Ludwig "filiam nobilissimi ducis Ingorammi…Irmingarda" [Thegani Vita Hludowici Imperatoris 4, MGH SS II, p. 591]. The Gesta Francorum records the death "818 V Non Oct" of "Irmingardis regina" [Gesta quorundam regum Francorum 818, MGH SS I, p. 356]."
