Payo Médez Sorred married doña Elvira Gudines, the daughter of Gudino Fafes. Their son was Mendo Peláez who married doña Ynés Pérez de Ambia, the daughter of don Pedro, señor de Ambia, and among their sons was Payo Méndez de Sotomayor, who married doña Hermesenda Núñez Maldonado.
