Tomás Jirón de Tejeda and his family are in the earlier Velasco list. Apparently he joined up as a soldier, and so is not included among the colonists of the subsequent list. He was a painter (pintor) by trade. His wife was Josefa González de Aragón, and they had two small children: Dimas, six, and María, five. An older married son, Nicolás, came with his wife. The girl, María, became the wife of Francisco García de Noriega in 1710.

Their mother died in Santa Fe shortly after their arrival, and on 25 Oct 1694, Tomás married Antonia Domínguez de Mendoza, widow of Andrés Hurtado.

In 1710 he worked on the reconstruction project of San Miguel Chapel. He died on 12 May 1736, at the age of seventy; his second wife died on 23 Aug 1748.
