A "record identified Gabriel de Pina and Tomasa Serrano as "Pobres del Carmen," poor persons from El Carmen, apparently referring to the neighborhood of El Carmen and possibly even the Calle del Carmen in the central part of Mexico City. Gabriel de Pina identified himself as a native and taxpaying citizen of Mexico City and names his parents as Pedro de Pina and dona Maria de Leyva. Tomasa Serrano identifies herself as a native and taxpaying citizen of Mexico City and a daughter of Nicolas Serrano and Antonia de Renteria."
