Régnier IV Comte de Hainault

~Ancestral Roots of Certain American Colonists Who Came to America before 1700, 8th Edition, 106:21, 144A:21, Hedwig, daughter of Hugh Capet and Adelaide of Poitou, married Regnier IV, Count of Hainaut, son of Regnier III (155:19), count of Hainaut, born circa 928 and died 973. They were the parents of Regnier V and Beatrix. ¹⁶⁰

The Annales Hanoniæ name "Raginerus" as son of "secundi Ragineri" [Iacobi de Guisia Annales Hanoniæ VIII.XII, MGH SS XXX Part 1, p. 114]. The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines records the death in 1013 of "in Haynico…comite Raginero Montense" [Chronica Albrici Monachi Trium Fontium 1013, MGH SS XXIII, p. 780]. The Genealogiæ Scriptoris Fusniacensis names "Robertum regem et filiam Hadevidem…comitissam Hainonensium" as the children of King Hugues [Genealogiæ Scriptoris Fusniacensis 2, MGH SS XIII, p. 252]. The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines also names "soror regis Roberti Hadwidis" as wife of "Rainero comiti de Hainaco, fratri Lamberti comitis de Lovanio" [Chronica Albrici Monachi Trium Fontium 1031, MGH SS XXIII, p. 783].

Régnier married Edith Princesse de Francs, daughter of Hugues Capet Re des Francs Occidentale and Adélaide de Poitou reine des France. (Hedwig (Edith) Princesse de Francs was born about 972 in France and died after 1013 in France.)
