Roger is named as one of a brothers who emigrated to Italy from Normandy. He married the widow of Rodolfo, conte di Auriate, and succeeded his wife's husband as Conte di Auriate. He was appointed regent of the March of Turin in 941 by Hugo King of Italy. He was one of the sons of Arduin, a Frankish knight from Normandy.
