Buenaventura Chaves and Maria Ursula Chaves, Isleta, 26 Nov 1808 - 9 Jan 1809, AHAD-364, f. 538-42 42.

Buenaventura Chávez, widowed of María Josefa de Luna, was a citizen and life-long resident of the Isleta jurisdiction. María Ursula Chávez, 33, was the widow of Manuel Arteaga. The couple was related in the second and third degrees of consanguinity and in the third and fourth degrees of affinity.

Witnesses:
Juan Padilla, 56, parishioner of Isleta, knew the couple was related to most of the people of their station in the area .
Juan de la Cruz Beytia, 36, parishioner of Isleta.

Father Jose Ygnacio Sánchez fotwarded the proceedings to Durango on 26 Oct 1808. On 9 Jan 1809, Vicar General Millán Rodríguez, acting for Bishop Olivares y Benito, granted a dispensation.

Baptismal Certificates

Isleta Pueblo on 20 Apr 1775, Father José Eluterio Junco y Junquera baptized María Ursula, the legitimate daughter of Tomás Chávez and María Josefa Padilla, and citizens of that jurisdiction. Her godparents were Ygnacio Chávea and Ursula Sánchez.

Alburquerque, Father Guerra certified that he had been unable to find a baptismal entry for Buenaventura Chávez, the legitimate son of Diego Antonio Chávez and Juana Silva, but was certain that Father Rojo had performed the baptism in that church and that the godparents were Tomás Chávez and his wife, María Josefa Padilla, deceased citizens of the Isleta jurisdiction.

Buenaventura married María Josefa Luna, daughter of Antonio de Luna and Ana María Catalina Pino. (María Josefa Luna was born in Apr 1774 and was baptized on 24 Apr 1774 in San Agustín de la Ysleta, Ysleta, Nueva Méjico, Nueva España 34.)
