Ezzo was the son of Hermann and his wife Heilwig. Ezzo died in Saalfeld, 21 May 1034 and was buried at Brauwelier. He married sometime before 15 Jun 991, Mathilde of Germany, daughter of emperor Otto II king of Germany and his wife Theophano.

Ezzo married Mathilda of Saxony, daughter of Otto of Saxony Holy Roman Emperor, King of Germany and Theophana di Sclerana of Constantinopl, before 15 Jun 991. (Mathilda of Saxony was born about 979 in Saxony,¹⁶⁰ died 4 Dec1025 in Lotharingia ¹⁶⁰ and was buried in 1025 in Brauweiler Abbey.)
