Matilda was the daughter of Otto II, King of Germany and Holy Roman Emperor and his wife Theophano, niece of Emperor Ioannes Tzmisces.


Mathilda married Ezzo Comte de Lorraine, son of Hermann "Pusillius," Pfalzgraf of Lower Lotharingia and Heylwig, before 15 Jun 991. (Ezzo Comte de Lorraine was born about 955 in Lotharingia, died on 21 May 1034 in Saalfeld and was buried in 1034 in Brauweiler Abbey.)
