Piers de Montfort is the earliest person recorded as the presiding officer of the Commons, an office today held by the Speaker of the House of Commons but known then as parlour or prolocutor.

Piers married Alice de Audley, daughter of Henry de Audley and Bertred de Mainwaring. (Alice de Audley was born about 1222 in Castle Heleigh, Audley, Staffordshire, England and died after 4 Aug 1265.)
