The marriage agreement that married Maurice to Alice, and his sister Helena to Alice's brother Roger was devised by Prince Henry and Stephen, King of England. The double marriage took place at Robert Fitz Hardking's house in Baldwin-street in the presence of Henry and Stephen.

According to Dursley and it's neighborhood [p. 6], by John Henry Blunt, part of the agreement brokered by Prince Henry with Robert Fitz Harding and Roger de Berkeley was that Robert Fitz Harding needed to give his son-in-law Dursley Castle, and he was to built a new castle at Berkley for the Fitz Hardings.

Roger married Helena Fitz Robert, daughter of Robert "the Devout" Fitz Harding and Prioress Eve of Bristol.899 (Helena Fitz Robert was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England and died 12 Jan 10 John.)
