Charles Cawley's Medieval Lands, Amedee de Savoie was the son of Oddon de Maurienne and Adelaida di Susa. " His parentage is confirmed by the Annals of Lambert which record that Heinrich IV King of Germany was in "Cinis" [Mont-Cénis] in Italy at Christmas 1077 to meet "socrum suam filiumque eius Amedeum" [Lamberti Annales 1077, MGH SS V, p. 255], the latter being the king's brother-in-law." He succeeded his brother in 1078 as comté de Savoie et Marchese di Susa. Amadeus married a woman named Jeanne, who may have been Jeanne de Genève.
