William de Evereux of Szlisbury was at the Coronation of Richard I, and bore the golden sceptre with the dove in the head of it. He died in 8 Richard I. He was married to Alianor, daughter of Tirrel Mainers, and had a daughter and heiress named Ele de Eureux.

He was Captain of the royal forces in 1173/74 and Bearer of St. Edward's staff at the first Coronation of Richard I on 3 Sep 1189, as well as the bearer of the Canopy at his second Coronation on 16 Apr 1194. He was Sheriff of Wilts in 1193-1196, the Captain of the Kingd army in Normandy in 1195, and keeper of the charter for licensing tournaments. He married sometime shortly after 1190 to Eleanor who was the widow of Gilbert, Seigneur de Tilliers who died in 1190. She was also the sister of Alan Dinan and daughter of Robert de Vitre, by Emma, daughter and heir of Alan de Dinan, by Agnorie daughter of Stephen de Bretagne, Lord of the hohor of Richamond. He died 17 Apr 1196, and was buried in the priory of Bradenstoke. His widow married Gilbert Malesmain. She was living in 1231 and died before 18 Aug 1233, and was buried in the Abbey of St. Martin de Monte Dei, near Bayeux.
