This Goeffrey had respite of knighthood, 24 Aug 1229 until the quinzaine of St. Michael following. He was son and heir of Oliver de Dinant, who died shortly before 28 Jun 1221, when the custody of his lands (and after that his heir) was committed to William Briwere. [Closed Rolls, 5 Hen. III, m. 7; 9 Hen. III, p. 2, m. 4; 13 Hen. III, m.5d; 20 Hen. III m.14d.] Oliver was son and heir of Geoffrey, son and heir of Oliver, Sire de Dinan (died 1150), son and heir of Geoffrey, Sire de Dinan in Brittany (who gave the manors of Nutwell an Harpford, Devon, to the Abbey of Marmoutier in 1122), by Orieldis his wife.

• Background Information. 1283
Geoffrey Dinant, son of Oliver Dinant, inherited the manors of Corton and Buckland, and had a summons with other persons of consequence, 41 Henry III, 1247, to repair to the King at Bristol well accountered with horse and arms, in order to march agains the Welsh. He died 43 Henry III 1259, leaving issue two sons, Oliver and Geoffrey.
