This Geoffrey had respite of knighthood, 24 Aug 1229 until the quinzaine of St. Michael following. He was son and heir of Oliver de Dinant, who died shortly before 28 Jun 1221, when the custody of his lands (and after that his heir) was committed to William Briwere. [Closed Rolls, 5 Hen. III, m. 7; 9 Hen. III, p. 2, m. 4; 13 Hen. III, m.5d; 20 Hen. III m.14d.] Oliver was son and heir of Geoffrey, son and heir of Oliver, Sire de Dinan (died 1150), son and heir of Geoffrey, Sire de Dinan in Brittany (who gave the manors of Nutwell an Harpford, Devon, to the Abbey of Marmoutier in 1122), by Orieldis his wife.
