Sir John Lovel is said to have married Eleanor, daughter of William Zouche, of Haringworth. There is no authority for her parentage. Complaint was made, temp. Edward IV, of oppressions at Polebrook, Northants, by Eleanor, Lady Lovell, 1464-1467; William Lord Lovel, had also injured the complainant. The dates given are after his death, and the document is no proof that this Eleanor, born Zouche, survived till 1467. In 1386, John Lovel was to have married Elizabeth, daughter and coheir of John Matravers, but the King forbade it, and in 1406 Alianor was wife of Sir Humphrey Stafford.
