John Lovel, son and heir, a minor at his father's death, whose wardship was granted to Alan Basset. In 1216 his lands were forfeit, presumably for opposition with the other Barons to King John; and again in 1223, for refusal of the aid due from him in the Welsh war; but he accompanied the King in 1224 to the siege of Bedford Castle.

John Lovel married, before August 1216, ______* daughter of Alan Basset and Aline his wife. He died before 23 December 1252.

* Philpot calls her Katherine, and has notes of a grant by their son for the souls of Alan Basset and Aline his wife. Katherine, widow of John Lovel, agreed for dower with John, son of John Lovel, 37 Henry III. She must have lived to extreme old age.

John married Katherine Basset, daughter of Alan Basset Lord of Wycombe and Aline de Gai.141 (Katherine Basset was born in Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England and died after 1253 in England 141.)
