Mateo de Ortega, twenty, a native of Guadalupe del Paso, of unknown parentage, married Antonia Luján, eighteen, in Santa Fe, 14 Jun 1697. She once accused a San Juan Indian woman of making her worse through her healing art. They had a daughter, Margarita, who married Joaquín de Anaya in 1716.

A Mateo Ortega, his son if not himself, was the husband of María Rosa Mestas, living in the north country, who had the following children:

Mateo de Ortega (20), native of El Paso del Norte, parents unknown, soldier in Santa Fé, and Antonia Luján (18), native of New Mexico, daughter of Antonio Luján (deceased) and María Martín. Groom says he gave his word to a woman in El Paso, but discovered she had relations with a brother of his, so they released each other from the promis of marriage.

Witnesses: Jacinto Sánchez (35), native of New Mexico, soldier, who knew pair since infancy; Juan Perea (30), native of New Mexico, soldier.

Pair married 14 Jun 1697.
