After his wife died, Juan Manuel Chirinos reached Santa Fé with the colonists (1693), and he settled in Santa Cruz de la Cañada, where he married another native of Mexico City, María de Guadalupe Navarro, sixteen, daughter of Antonio Navarro and Antonia González de Vargas, both deceased. He gave his own parents as Juan Martínez de Cervantes and María Antonia Chirinos. Here he also gave his own last name as "Chirinos."
