Siegfried married, about 959, Hedwig who died 13 Dec 992, perhaps the daughter of Count Eberhanrd, Count in Nordgau. Siegfried and Hedwig were the parents of Liutgard who married Arnuld, Count of Westfriesland and Holland; and Frederick I, who succeeded his father as count of Luxembourgh. ¹⁶⁰

The precise family origin of Siegfried is not certain, but he most likely was somehow related to Wigerich. It is also possible that Siegfried was the son of Wigerich's wife Cunegundis by her second husband Richwin. Charles Crawley suggests that Siegfried was the first cousin of Wigerich.
