According to Orderic Vitalis, Rollo "stormed and captured Bayeux, slew its count Berengar and took to wife his daughter Poppa" [Chibnall, M. (ed. and trans.) The Ecclesiastical History of Orderic Vitalis, Vol. II, (Oxford Medieval Texts, 1969-80), Book III, p. 7]. Berenger was married to a daughter of Pepin (Carolingian).
