• Background Information. 160 Godfrey, comté de Boulogne, duc de Lorraine, likely born earlier than 1061, usually given at Baisy, Brabant. He died in Jerusalem 18 Jul 1100. He was a Domesday tenant of 1086 at Carshalton, Surrey, and he was a leader of the First Crusade & elected King of Jerusalem, but took the title Advocate of the Holy Sepulcher as Godfrey I. He was the father of Guillaume de Boulogne. He married Beatrice de Manderville, daughter Geodfrey de Manderville and the aunt of the first Earl of Essex.
