Nesta, daughter of Rhys ap Gruffydh ap Tudor Mawr, Prince of South Wales was known for her beauty. She had been a mistress of Henry I, and was mother by him of Robert of Gloucester and of Meyler Fitz Henry. She afterwards married Stephen, constable of Cardigan, by whom she had one son, Robert Fitz Stephen. After the death of her first husband, she married Gerald Fitz Walter. With Gerald, Nesta had three sons, Maurice, William and David.
