Richard Corbet

  General Notes:

~ Eyton's Antiquities of Shropshire, Vol. X, p. 82 (Corbet of Wattlesborough and Moreton-Corbet pedigree chart), Richard Corbet of Wattlesborough, occurs 1180, and by his first wife, was the father of Richard Corbet of Wattlesborough and Moreton who married Joanna Toret, daughter of Bartholomew Torret. This Richard was also the grandfather of Richard Corbet who married Petronilla of Edgbolton. ⁸⁰²

~ Boyer's Medieval English Ancestors of Robert Abell, p. gives Thomas Corbet, the Pilgrim as the father of Sir Richard Corbet of Wattlesborough. According to Janet Meisel in her book titled Barons of the Welsh Frontier: The Corbet, Pantulf and Fitz Warin Families, 1066-1272, Thomas the Pilgrim is more myth than reality. ⁷²¹
