• Dates & Events. He and Robert III "Courteheuse", duc de Normandie were joined Robert of Flanders, leader of the fourth contingent of the First Crusade in August 1096. He returned to the Holy Land to again fight the Turks in 1101.
• Death. Killed in the Battle of Ramleh, by the Turks, in the Crusade of 1101 fighting in the Battle of Ascalon
