Ralph Langton was a witness for Robert le Grosvenor in the famous case of arms between Scrope and Grosvenor. (See Grosvernor Line)

Sir Ralph Langton obtained the bishop's license in 1367 to have an orator for three years in his manor house at Newton. In 1370. He presented his clerk, James Langton, to living in Wigan. In 10 Richard II, when he was 45 years old, he was examined in the friary at Warrington as a witness in the celebrated suit of arms between Scrope and Grosvenor, and gave evidence in favor of Grosvenor.

Sir Ralph obtained a renewal confirmation of his privilege of a chantry at Rokenden on 12 Dec 1405. Sir Ralph married Joan, the daughter of William de Radcliffe, and died in or about 7 Henrey IV (1406), leaving his wife surviving. Joan was still living in Henry V (1420). They had several children, the eldest and heir was Henry Langton.

Ralph married Johanna de Radcliffe, daughter of Sir William Radcliffe "The Great William" and Margaret de Peasfurlong.712 (Johanna de Radcliffe was born in 1345 in Tomorden, West Riding, Yorkshire, England and died after 1421 in Lancashire, England 714.)
