John de Crophull married Margery, widow William Blount, and one of the daughters and coheirs of Theobald de Verdon, an eminent baron, who held great estates in England and ireland. Because of his marriage, he came to hold lands in both kingdoms, and by virtue thereof had a summons to attend the great council that took place at Westminster in 35 Edward III to take into consideration the state of affairs in Ireland, but it does not appear that he ever had a summons, as a parliamentary baron, to the house of peers.

In 30 Edward III, along with his wife Margery, he had a license to enfeoof Ralph de Crophull, parson of the church in Cottingham, with certain lands and advovsons in the counties of Salop, Leicester and Hereford. The son and heir of John and Margery Crophull was Thomas de Crophull.

Margery, born and baptized 10 Aug 1310 at Alton, married, 1^st, sometime before 20 Feb 1326/7, to William le Blount, Lord Blount, who died s.p. shortly before 3 Oct 1337. She married, 2^nd , sometime before 18 Oct 1339, Sir Mark Husee (son and heir apparent of Henry, 2^nd Lord Husee), who died v.p. shortly before 10 Feb 1345/6. She married, 3^rd , before 10 Sep 1355, as his 1^st wife, Sir John de Crophull, of Bonnington, Notts, who died 3 Jul 1383. She died before him in or before 1377.
