~George Ormerod's The History of County Palatine and City of Chester, Vol. III, p. 707, Peter de Legh of Betchton married Ellen his wife, the daughter of Philip de Bechton, lord of Betchton.

Peter may have been Matthew, son of John and Agnes of Bechton. In Contributions Towards a History of the Ancient Parish of Pestbury, in Cheshire, p. 231, Thomas Fitton of Gawsworth (Ob. 20 Ric II) is shown married to Margaret, daughter and co-heir of Peter Legh of Betchton by Ellen daughter and heir of Matthew de Bechton (ob. 1379)
