The Kyme family was an ancient family who assumed the name from a lordship in Kesteven in Lincolnshire. Simon de Kyme founded the Priory of Bolinton during the reign of Stephen. He married Rose, the daughter of Robert Dapifer (steward to Gilbert de Gant, Earl of Lincholnshire), who was commonly known as roese de Bulinton.
