Zachariah Walker and his father are considered to be among the first settlers of Woodbury, Connecticut. The town of Woodbury, in Litchfield County, was established in 1673.

Deacon Zechariah Walker, only son of Reverend Zechariah and Susannah Walker, was baptized with his sister Abigail in the Stratford Church, 22 May 1670, his father then being the pastor. He settled in Woodbury, Connecticut, where he was the deacon of the church and a land owner. He died 21 Dec 1753.
His wife, daughter of Deacon Samuel Bull, died 19 Dec 1749. Their children were: Mary, baptized Jan 1689, married 13 Fed 1707, Lieutenant Joseph Judson; Abigail, baptized Sep 1691, married Valentine Prentice; Timothy; Josiah baptized, September, 1694; Joseph, died unmarried in 1727; Zechariah, born 14 May 1792; Peter, born 24 Oct 1706; Elizabeth, born 16 Dec 1708, married 26 Jun 1729, Caleb Martin; Gideon, born 16 Dec 1711, died 30 Apr 1789, married, 6 Nov 1735, Mary Munn, who died 6 Apr 1789; he had no children, but adopted two, Esther and Zechariah.
