Wikipedia en español: Munio Núñez de Brañosera took part, during the ninth century, in the repopulation of the area that extends from the mountains of Cantabria to the banks of the Duero. He was the ancestor of the counts of Castile and the lineage of the Lara.

On 13 Oct 824, during the reign of King Alfonso II of Asturias, Munio and his wife Argilo granted the famous Brañosera jurisdiction to the five neighbors who went to populate the place.

Although it is not mentioned in the documentation or in the chronicles of the time, it is assumed that he was the father of at least two children:

• Nuño Muñoz, who would be the father of the count of Castilla Munio Núñez.
Fernando Muñoz, father of Gonzalo Fernández who was the father of the count of Castilla Fernán González. Fernando Muñoz was also the father Nuño Fernández, count in Castilla and Burgos.
