• Web Reference: Robert de Torigny and the family of Gunnor, Duchess of Normandy. We don't known the names of her parents, but we do know that she had three sisters and a brother. She was the Mistress of Richard I, Duke of Normandy, as well as being the Grandmother of William the Conqueror The descendants of Gunnor and her siblings had a great impact on English History by being part of the Norman Conquest of England. They were ancestors of the Fitz Osberns, the Montgomerys, the Mortimers, the Warennes, the Giffards and the Beaumonts. Gunnor married Richard I "the Fearless" de Normandy Princeps Nortmannorum, son of Guillaume "Longue Épée" de Normandy Princeps Nortmannorum and Espriotae de Bretagne. (Richard I "the Fearless" de Normandy Princeps Nortmannorum was born about 933 in Fécamp, Haute-Normandie, France 160 and died on 20 Nov 996 in Fécamp, Haute-Normandie, France 160.) |
