Ellena, daughter of William de Hebden, married Sir Nicholas de Ebor who became the lord of Hebden upon marrying Ellena. Their son William, succeeded as the lord of Hebden around 1250.

• Background Information. 1065
About 1249, William of York, provost of the college, granted Eske manor to his brother Nicholas of York. The estate was later divided among undertenants. By the mid 13th century, part of Eske was in the possession of Peter of Meaux, who then granted six bovates, together with several willeins and their tofts and services to Patrick de Caldebek. Patrick quitclaimed those six bovates to William, son of Nicholas of York, in 1268, and at his death in 1282, William was said to hold them of another William of York, rector of Patrington.
