Hugh Gournay II, very likely the son of Hugh I, was one of the commander of the Norman fleet in 1035 sent by William Duke of Normany in 1035 to England as support of Prince Edward, son of Ethelred, to the English crown, upon the death of Canute. In 1066, he accompanied William to England, and as is said, died of of wound recieved in battle in 1074 [Hist. MS. de Gournay; Chronique de Normandie, par Megissier].
