Raymond was Marquis of Barcelona and the son of Raymond Berenger III, count of Barcelona by his wife Dulce, heiress of Provence, daughter of Gelbert, vicomte de Carlat. 113:25, Barenguela of Barclona was the daughter of Dulce and her husand Raymond III. Berenguela married Alfonso VII, king of Castile and Leon. 160

Dulcia was the daughter of Gilbert vicomte de Gévaudan et de Milhaud and his wife Gerberge comtessa de Provence. The Brevi Historia Comitum Provincić records that "Gilberto comite Provincić" left his widow "Tiburgia…comitissa" and "Dulcia unica filia" and notes the latter's marriage to "Raymundus-Berengarii vulgo Cap-De stoupes…dictus, Comes Barcinonć in Catalonia" [Ex Brevi Historia Comitum Provincić e familia comitum Barcinonensium, RHGF XII, p. 361].

Raymond IV Berenger, born about 1113 and died 6 Aug 1162, the Marquis of Barcelonia, son of Raymond III Berenger, Count of Barcelona, by his 3rd wife, Dulce de Gevaudan, heiress of Provence, daughter of Gilbert, Count of Gevauden, vicomté de Carlet, Count of Province and Gerberga of Provence, Countess of Arles.

Dulce de Gévaudan was the daughter of Gilbert I of Gévaudan and Gerberga of Provence and wife of Ramon Berenguer III, Count of Barcelona. In 1112, she inherited the county of Provence through her mother. She married Ramon Berenguer at Arles on 3 February that year.


Dolça married Ramón III "el Grande" Berengar Conde de Barcelona y de Provenza, son of Ramón Berengar II "Cabeza de Estopa." Conde Barcelona and Mathilde di Apulia, in 1112.160 (Ramón III "el Grande" Berengar Conde de Barcelona y de Provenza was born on 11 Nov 1080-1082, died on 19 Aug 1131 in Barcelona, Catalán 160 and was buried in Santa María de Ripoll.)
