~Ancestral Roots of Certain American C olonists Who Came to America before 1700, 8th Edition, 57:35, 40:33-34, 46:35, shows, that Isabel de Lathom was the daughter of Sir Thomas de Lathom and Joan, with note, Topographica et Genealogica VII (1841), p. 20, chart, shows Thomas married to Johanna, daughter of Hugh Venables, Baron of Kinderton, and sister of Hugh Venables, Sheriff of Cheshire. Isabel de Lathom married Sir John Stanley, Knight of the Garter.160

John de Stanley was the younger son of William de Stanley. John was the Deputy in Ireland in 1387/88 for Robert de Vere, the Marquess of Dublin. he was appointed justiciary of Ireland 1 Aug 1389. He left Ireland before 29 Apr 1391, and on 20 Aug 1389, he received a grant for life of 100 marks a year to be the "King's knight" to he above all others. On 28 Apr 1394, he was appointed Justice of Chester and on 3 Oct 1397, he was grant an annuity of 40 marks for life by the King. He became the Controller of the Household. He was appointed Lieutenant of Ireland and served in that position until 12 July 1399. Sometime before 13 Sep 1403, he was the Steward for Henry, Prince of Wales, when had a grant for life of the office of Steward of Macclesfield and Surveyor of the Forests of Macclesfiled, Mare and Mondrem, Cheshire, and Master Forester and Ranger of the same. He was appointed Governor of the city of Chester, and became a Knight of the Garter in about 1405. As the "King's Knight," he was granted a general pardon for debts. He and his wife Isabel were granted free warren in the manors of Lathom and Knowsley, Lancashire, as the Steward of the King's Household on 9 Feb 1406/07. He was granted for life, the office of constable of Windsor Castle on 3 Jul 1409 and on 8 Jun 1413 he was appointed the King's Lieutenant of Ireland for six years. Sir John Stanley married in or before 1385, Isbel, daughter of Thomas de Lathom , of Lathom and Knowsley, Lancashire. John died before 28 Jan 1413/14.

Sir John de Stanley, K.G., Soverign of the Isle of Man, born about 1340, died in Ardee, Ireland 6 Jan 1413/14, but this date disagress with other sources. His father gave him a small estate in newton, near Macclesfield on the Cheshire-Staffordshire border. Because of his military service in France, he was appointed service in Ireland.

He was Lord of Lathom and Knowsley, served King Richard II as Lord Deputy of Ireland, 1385/86, abd was warden of the east march in 1388. Other appointments include justice of Cheshire in 1394 and Sheriff of Roxburgh, Ireland in 1396, where he served as Captain of the Roxburgh Castle for ten years. He also served as constable of Roxburgh & Windsor Castle, as well as steward of the King's household.

He was kinighted by Edward III, which brought him an annuity of 100 marks per year from Richard II, but his wealth came from his wife, Isabel de Lathom. In 1400, he was given estates in Cheshire of the Earl of Salisbury, which included Raby, Ledsham, Mollinton, torot, Chester, Claverton, Nether Bebington and Lee-by Bretherton, and more in Flintshire.

He served as the steward of the house of the Prince of Wales in 1403, and from 1405 to 1408, he served as the steward for the King's household. On 19 Oct 1405, he was granted the Isle of Man for life, and on 6 Apr 1406, King Henry IV made the grant perpetual in return for the payment of two falcons to each king at his coronation. He became a Knight of the Gater in 1413, and spent the final year of his life as Lieutenant of Ireland.
