Aubrea is also written as Albrea, Albritha, Aubretha, Albreda or Aubreda. She was called Aubrea de Jarpenville when mentioned in the Testa de Nevill, which mentioned that Aubrea de Jarpenville held Efferton (Offeton) by the special service, or serjeanty, of acting as Marshal of the king's falcons.

From a charter of St. Augustine's Abbey, we know that Aubreda was a descendant, and ultimately the heiress, of Robert de Romenel. Whe had inherited the marshalship of the king's birds, and had married William de Jarpenville, or Gerpenvill, who died before, or soon after 1200. The sole issue of this marriage was a daughter, named Alice, who was likely born during the reign of Henry II. Alice married thomas Fitz Bernard, to whom, at the request of the widowed Aubrea de Jarpenville, King John, in March 120, granted the office of Marshal of the king's birds. Before 1212, Thomas Fitz Bernard died leaving a son named Ralph. Both mother and daughter were now widows, and Aubrea nominated, in 1212, her grandson Ralph Fitz Bernard, and John Fitz Bernard, who was likely Ralph's son.

Aubrea de Japenville, heiress of de Romenel, survived until about 1226, when her daughter Alice, widow of Thomas Fitz Bernard paid King Henry III a fine of five marks, upon receiving seisin of all her mother's lands in Kent and Buckshire. Alice did not live much longer than her mother.
