Sir William de Clifton
, in Sep 1329, settled the manor Salwyk on his son William and his son's wife, Margaret, daughter of Sir Robert Shireburn, of Stonyhurst, Lancashire. This Sir William was elected knight of the shire in Sep 1302, along with Gilbert de Singleton, and again in 1304, along with William de Banastre. Sir William was married to a woman named Ellen, and his son, another Sir William de Cliffton, husband to Margaret, daughter of Sir Robert Shireburne, succeeded him.
