It is said that Sir Adam de Bostock was knighted at the battle of Falkirk on 22 Jul 1298, during Edward I's Scottish campaign. His name appears in records showing he was involved in some neighborly quarrels.

On 3 May 1343, Adam Bostock "the elder" granted to Nicholas, son of Richard de Vernon of Whatcroft, a parcel of land in bostock on the occasion of Nicholas' marriage to Adam's daughter, Margery. Witnesses were Sir Hugh Venables and Sir Hugh Vernon. His name continues to show up in records from 1316 to 1343. He died sometime between 1343 and 1350, when his widow, Matilda, sues for her dower.
