Richard, son of William de Balderstone and Constance Banastre, proved his age in 1422 and had livery of his estates. In 1431, he was returned as holding half the manor of Claughton by knight's service, and in 1444/5, as holding half of a knight's fee in Balderston and other places.
Richard de Balderstone married Joan, daughter of Sir James Harrington of Wolfage, Knight. The children of this union were William, his heir and Richard, who died without issue, as well as daughters, Elizabeth the wife of John Osbalderstone, Ellen the wife of Thomas Radcliffe of Winmarleigh and Isabel the wife of Sir William Atherton, knight. Richard Balderston, esq. died 20 Dec 1456.
