Thomas Tenney and his wife Ann Mighill were among the colonist who came to the British American colonies with Reverend Ezekiel Rogers. They arrived in Salem, Massachusetts in Dec 1638, and settled at Rowley, Massacusetts in Apr 1639. Thomas was abot 24 years of age at the time.
Ann Mighill died sometime around 26 Sep 1657, which was the date of her burial. Thomas Teney married for a second time, 24 Feb 1658, Elizabeth, the widown of Francis Parrat of Rowley.
The the town records of Rowley, Thomas is listed as Engisng, Marshall in 1653-1666; Warner of town meetings, 1650-53, 60-61, and 66; Overseer of plains, 1656, 1664 & 71, Selectmand 1660, 1661, 1670; Viewer of fences, highways and chimneys, 1669; Constable 1665-1666, and Tithingman, 1680.
The later years of his life, Thomas lived in Bradford, Massachusetts. In a deed dated 15 Jun 1694, is written "Thomas Tenney of Bradford to Eldest son John Tenney of Bradford, sixty acres of land in Bradford, now in possession of John Wood, also three acres of meadow at Crane Pond in Rowley, also six . . ." Thomas died in Bradford 20 Feb 1699.1700, and was buried in the Old Cemetery of Brandford, where his grave was marked by a dark slate-stone.
