Phebe (Besby) Bressey was married a first time to Thomas Bressey. They settled in New Haven, Conneticut until Thomas's death. Phebe married her second husband Lieut. Samuel Martin of New Haven. They moved to Wethersfield where Martin died 15 Sept. 1683. Phebe's father, William Bisby, was not pleased with either of her husbands. He wrote in a letter dated 11 May 1646 that "shee was rash in her first marrage & soe in her second."

Phebe Bisby, the daughter of William Bisby, of London, salter, married Thomas Bressey. They immigrated to new England in 1634, and settled at Ipswich, Massachusetts. Sometime after 1638, but before 1646, they removed to New Haven, Connecticut. Thomas Bressey died before 11 May 1646, and Phebe remarried Lieutenant Samuel Martin who died 15 Sep 1683.
