Yumar was was a 7 year old child when she a member of Don de Oñate party that came to settle New Mexico in 1598.

Her family were among the Loyalists who stayed in New Mexico.

The wife of Antonio Ortiz Baca was Yumar Pérez de Bustillo, forty years old in 1631. She, too, had come to New Mexico as a child with her parents. Of their three known daughers, Gertrudis married Antonio Jorge, Ana was the wife of Franciso López de Aragon, and Gregoria married Antonio de Alvizu. What later Bacas were their sons, if any, cannot as yet be ascertained."
