Juan Esteban García de Noriega was a prominent individual of the Rio Arriba district. On June 23, 1721, he married Luisa Gómez Lujan, of Gómez del Castillo, with ex-Governor Valverde as his sponsor. He was thirty-five years old in 1731 and residing in Santa Cruz la Cañada. This connection with Valverde points to his being a close relative of Luis García and Josefa Xavier.

The known children of Juan Esteban and Luisa were; José Anselmo, born 25 Apr 1722; Juan Tomás, born 26 Dec 1723; José Joaquín, who married María Concepción García de la Mora on 13 Oct 1761; José, born 20 Jan 1730; and Antonio, born on 20 Feb 1742.
