• Background Information. 535
Sir Geoffrey de Genevill, 38 Henry III, had livery of the castle of Trim, in Ireland. Four years later he received a military summons to march against the Welsh, and in 44 Henry III, being one of the barons marchers, he had command to repair the castle of Wales, and to reside there. In 10 Edward I, he was in the expedition made against the Welsh and in fifteen years subsequently, he was in the wars of Gascony. For all which services he was summoned to parliament as a baron, 6 Feb 1299, and from that period forth until 3 Nov 1306. He married Maud, daughter and heir of Gilbert de Lacey, son of Walter de Lacey, Lord of Meath. The children of Maud and Sir Geoffrey were:

Sir Simon, Lord of Culmullin, married to Joan Fitz-Leon, Lady of Culmullin and had issue of daughters: Matilda, married to Baldwyn, Lord Slane; Elizabeth, married to Sir William Loundres, Baron of Naas; and Joan married to John Cusack.

Geoffrey married Maud de Lacy, daughter of Gilbert de Lacy and Isabel le Bigod, in 1252 in Trim, Meath, Ireland.160 (Maud de Lacy was born about 1232-1240 in Dublin, Ireland and died on 11 Apr 1304.)
