~From The History of Ancient Woodbury, Connecticut, from the First Indian Deed in 1659- 1854, by William Cothren, pg. 622

There was a Samuel Martin of Wethersfield who married, in England, widow Phebe Bracey, the daughter of William Bisby, merchant of London, and came over with his wife and her child by her former husband about 1650, It is not impossible that this lady gave birth to a child on the voyage, whom she called William from the name of her father, and Seaborn from the Circumstances of his birth. Another circumstance in favor of this supposition, is the fact of William's marriage in 1685, which would make him according tho this theory, about twenty-five years of age at that date, and age when he might be expected to form this connection.

William Martin and his wife Abigail were admitted to the first church of Woodbury, on their removal there, 30 Aug. 1685. William and Abigail were married 25 Jun 1685, when she was about fourteen years of age. Their first child was born in the twentieth year of her age. He (William) died 4 July 1715, and his widow survived him some 20 years, and died 4 Jan 1735. William was buried near the center of the burying-ground in Woodbury, and a coarse native stone, on which was chiseled, "W.M., July 4, 1715" was set up at the head and foot of his grave. These stones were removed in digging other graves, and now lie on the ground near the place of their original location.

• Samuel, baptized Mar 1693
Caleb, born 26 Mar 1698
